If you’ve overindulged this festive season, forget frantically googling those crazy cleanses and juice fasts. Detox without trying with these easy steps:
-Lose the processed foods and go back to basics- load up on plenty of fresh fruit veggies and protein.
-Cut out wheat and dairy- (apart from natural Greek yoghurt) -these foods spike your insulin levels and have little nutritional value.
-Drink at least 8 cups of pure water per day- water is highly cleansing and also fills you up so you don’t overeat.
-Start your day with a cup of warm water with lemon- very detoxifying and cleansing for the liver and helps alkalise your system after all of the acidic sugary foods you’ve consumed over christmas.
-Lose the sugar, soft drinks and artificial sweeteners- these are junk. Craving something sweet? Eat raw fruit.
-Move it!- for at least an hour a day and break a sweat for at least 15 minutes. Exercise is the body’s natural detoxifier.
Eat a grapefruit a day- helps decrease your appetite and highly cleansing.
Increase your fibre intake with kiwi fruit and oatbran.
Include some natural yoghurt- to help balance your digestive tract and decrease bloating. Make sure it doesn’t contain any sugar, gelatin or thickeners.
Include apple cider vinegar in your day- as a replacement for salad dressing or splash in your water to help alkalise your system, detox the liver, breakdown your food and aid the absorption of nutrients.
